Joe Jeff Goldblatt: Happy Talk Int'l

Joe Jeff Goldblattis a member of The George Washington University faculty and the director of The Event Management Program, as well as serving as the coordinator for activities of the Forum for Sport and Event Management and Marketing at the University. Currently, he is the president of the Goldblatt Company, Inc. which he founded in 1990 as an event management consulting organization. He was the executive producer of The Wonder Company from 1976 to 1990, a special events firm that produced large-scale events for corporations, associations, and governments. Goldblatt was also a founding member of the International Special Events Society (ISES) and served as its first president in 1987. In 1993, this society awarded Goldblatt the Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) designation.

Goldblatt is the son of Max and Rosa Goldblatt, and was raised in Dallas, Texas. His father was a city councilman in Dallas for two terms and one of the founders of the Dallas County Community College system. Joe Jeff Goldblatt received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from St. Edward's University in 1975, with a major in theatre. He earned a Masters of Tourism Administration from The George Washington University in 1994, and is currently in the doctor of education (Ed.D.) program at the same university. Goldblatt is married to Nancy Lynner, Event Manager at the Smithsonian Institution, and together they have two sons. They currently live in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Over the years, Joe Jeff Goldblatt has been involved in producing hundreds of special events and shares his expertise through educational resources offered at the university level. He has also written numerous articles in trade and professional journals on event management.

Such experience in the field of event management has led Goldblatt to publish a number of educational guides to his profession. He is the author of the first textbook in this field which is entitled Special Events, the Art and Science of Celebration. Since this was published in 1990, he has released two new publications. In 1993 came The Ultimate Party Handbook, and in 1994 came the publication of The Ultimate Guide to Sport Event Management and Marketing which is co-authored by Stedman Graham and Lisa Delpy, Ph.D. In addition, Goldblatt is currently a member of the editorial board for the Festival Management and Event Tourism Journal.
