Dr. Diffine is Professor of Economics at Harding University in Searcy, AR, Dir. of the Belden Center for Private Enterprise Education, and Senior Research Associate of the American Studies Institute. His Economics Teams have won six national championships in Students in Free Enterprise. He has served as an Adjunct Instructor for Pepperdine University, University of Arkansas, Arkansas State University, Webster University, and the Mid South School of Banking.
Listed in Heritage Foundation's GUIDE TO PUBLIC POLICY EXPERTS, Dr. Diffine is author of seven books and 20 monographs. Recent titles include "THE ARKANSAS DECADE We Mean Business," "TREATING FLAT TAX FEVER Nothing Heals Like a Tax Cut," "THE AMERICAN INCENTIVE SYSTEM ALMANAC," and "MIXING BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE The Bottom Line and the Punch Line."
He is recipient of the Freedoms Foundation George Washington Honor Medal for his article "All American Economics Made in the U.S.A." He is also the editor of the ENTREPRENEUR, a quarterly journal that has received six Freedoms Foundation awards in the category of Non profit Publications. Th e recipient of the $7,500 Freedoms Foundation Leavey Principle Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education, Dr. Diffine has received eight other Freedoms Foundation awards in Public Address Economic Education, Public Affairs Advertising, and Published Works. He is the faculty winner of the $1,000 First Place prize in the Americanism Educational League's National Essay contest judged by Nobel Economist Milton Friedman.
In 1995, he received the "Champion of Enterprise" award and became the first inductee into the National Students in Free Enterprise Hall of Fame in Kansas City. The First Annual Distinguished Scholar Award was presented in 1988 to Dr. Diffine in Cleveland, Ohio, by the Association of Private Enterprise Education. The Wal Mart Foundation has designated him as a Samuel Moore Walton Free Enterprise Fellow. Dr. Diffine earned the B.A. degree in Economics from California State University at Long Beach, the M.A. in Economics from St. Mary's University, Texas, and the Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi. He is a former Air Force Captain, Squadron Commander, Senior Training Officer, and Administrative Officer. His wife of 34 years is the former Dion Hillman of Kailua, Hawaii. Dion is a public school math teacher, and the couple has two children: David (28) a medical doctor with the Jackson Family Practice Clinic, Jackson, TN, and Danielle (25), a staff accountant with UAMS in Little Rock.
